My Lovely Valentine
O Valentine voluptuous and fair,
One day a year, just one, is not enough
For me upon my sleeve my love to wear
For thee, and in thy place to strut thy stuff!
For thou thine own sweet virtues will not flaunt.
If I take not my pen, then who will know?
That such a beauty lives, whom I must vaunt,
Who makes my passions like a river flow!
Blush not, sweet woman, thou art not to blame
That nature crowned thy visage with such grace
That poetry finds not the words to name
That subtle fire in thee that I embrace.
Thy beauty, love, stirs flame within my heart.
Thy love, sweet love, turns love into an art.
